Welcome
We welcome visitors to our services, or just to view the church and offer a prayer.
We regret it is not possible to leave the church unlocked at all times.

Directions

From Bath City Centre
From the centre of Bath, the visitor should cross the river over Churchill Bridge (just west of Bath Spa railway station). Drivers should follow the signs for A36 Bristol. Walkers should turn RIGHT along the riverside. A quarter of a mile along the Lower Bristol Road turn LEFT at the Green Park Tavern into Westmoreland Road. The road becomes Lower Oldfield Park - follow it up the hill past the school grounds then take the second turning LEFT into Junction Road. Go up Junction Road and take the third turning RIGHT into Second Avenue. The church is at the far end of Second Avenue. The total distance is about 1 mile.

From the West
Approaching Bath on the A4 dual carriage way, take the A36 and stay on it for about a mile. After passing the Ford & Kia Motor showrooms on the left, move towards the right hand lane and turn RIGHT at the traffic lights into Brougham Hayes. Follow Brougham Hayes over the railway bridge, then take the second turning RIGHT into Junction road. Then take the third turning RIGHT into Second Avenue. St Alphege's lies at the far end.

From the East
Approaching Bath from the M4 or A4, look for the signs saying A36 and follow them around the south east of the city. At the large roundabout by the railway station take the first exit marked " A367 Radstock & Shepton Mallet ". Half a mile up the hill take the second turning on the RIGHT into Oldfield Road. Follow Oldfield Road down the hill and take the second turning on the LEFT into First Avenue. The church is at the other end of the road.

From the South
On the A367 from the Radstock direction, follow the dual carriageway down to Bear Flat, round past the Bear Inn on the left, then take the next turning on the LEFT into Oldfield Road. Follow Oldfield Road down the hill and take the second turning on the LEFT into First Avenue. The church is at the other end of the road.



To Find St Joseph's Church, Sladebrook Road
If approaching from the south or west of Bath, follow the signs Crematorium which will guide you to Haycombe Cemetery. Turn into the road opposite the cemetery gates (The Hollow), then turn RIGHT at the mini-roundabout into Mount Road. Just past the shops turn LEFT into Sladebrook Road.

If travelling from St Alphege's, proceed west along Oldfield Lane into Beckhampton Road and at the other end turn LEFT into Moorland Road shopping centre. At the far end of Moorland Road turn LEFT around the back of the former Methodist Church into Lyndhurst Road, then the second turning LEFT into Millmead Road. Millmead Road becomes Dartmouth Avenue. At the top end turn RIGHT and then immediately LEFT into Southdown Road. Sladebrook Road is the second turning on the RIGHT in Southdown Road, and St Joseph's is at the top end. The distance is about 1.3 miles.
